Where to Live & Golf in Metro Detroit

When people think of Detroit, they usually think of music, food, design, and cars — and rightfully so. But there is another side of our region that deserves just as much attention: golf lifestyle.

Metro Detroit is home to some incredible golf experiences, beautiful communities, private clubs, public courses, and lifestyle-driven neighborhoods that appeal to people who want more than just a house. They want a way of life.

And let’s be honest — Detroit is not just a city of Motown, coneys, and the Big Three. We are also home to some of the country’s most respected golf culture. Just ask Mark Wahlberg.

Every year, the Rocket Classic brings national attention to Detroit Golf Club and reminds the world that Detroit belongs in the conversation when it comes to golf, lifestyle, and elevated living.

A Personal Note From Me

On a personal note, I am a novice golfer and currently playing my second full season.

I have been learning under the tutelage of LPGA golf instructor Tammy Turner-Nelson of Golf with Tammy, and I have such a new appreciation for the game.

Golf is humbling. It is strategic. It is social. It requires patience, discipline, and a good sense of humor — which, honestly, sounds a lot like real estate.

The more I learn the game, the more I understand why so many people build relationships, make decisions, and even choose where they want to live around the golf lifestyle.

Where Golf and Real Estate Meet in Metro Detroit

For many buyers, real estate is no longer just about bedrooms, bathrooms, and square footage. It is about access. Access to lifestyle. Access to community. Access to recreation. Access to spaces where business, family, and leisure naturally come together.

That is where golf communities and golf-adjacent neighborhoods become so interesting.

Whether someone wants to live near a private club, entertain clients on the course, enjoy a quiet Sunday round, or simply be close to beautiful green space, golf can absolutely influence a real estate decision.

Dearborn: TPC Michigan and Established Living

Dearborn is one of the most underrated lifestyle locations in metro Detroit.

Home to TPC Michigan, a Jack Nicklaus-designed course, Dearborn offers a unique combination of access, history, and convenience. You are close to downtown Detroit, Detroit Metro Airport, major corporate centers, and some of the area’s most established neighborhoods.

For buyers who want a strong residential community with proximity to golf, dining, business, and culture, Dearborn deserves a serious look.

Detroit: Golf, History, and City Energy

Detroit Golf Club has become a national stage through the Rocket Classic, but the surrounding Detroit neighborhoods also offer something special.

Areas like Palmer Woods, Sherwood Forest, University District, and nearby historic neighborhoods provide a blend of architecture, character, and city access that is hard to duplicate.

For someone who wants the energy of Detroit with access to one of the city’s most iconic golf institutions, this part of the city offers a lifestyle that feels both classic and current.

Bloomfield Hills and Birmingham: Classic Club Lifestyle

Bloomfield Hills and Birmingham continue to be two of metro Detroit’s most sought-after areas for buyers who want elegance, convenience, and access to premier private club culture.

The homes are beautiful. The communities are established. The lifestyle is refined without needing to explain itself.

For buyers who value privacy, architecture, entertaining, dining, shopping, and golf access, this corridor remains one of the strongest lifestyle-driven real estate markets in the region.

Northville, Novi, and Plymouth: Suburban Ease With Active Living

For buyers who want space, newer housing options, strong community energy, and an active lifestyle, Northville, Novi, and Plymouth are excellent areas to consider.

This part of metro Detroit offers a balance of comfort, convenience, recreation, and long-term value. It is ideal for people who want room to breathe while still being connected to restaurants, shopping, golf, parks, and major expressways.

Why This Matters

The best real estate decisions are not just financial decisions. They are lifestyle decisions.

Where you live impacts how you spend your mornings, your weekends, your relationships, your wellness, your business, and your long-term wealth.

That is why I love helping clients think beyond the property itself. The right home should support the life you are building.

For some, that means walkability and skyline views. For others, it means a quiet neighborhood near a country club. For someone else, it may mean a condo downtown with easy access to dining, sports, and culture.

The goal is to make sure your real estate aligns with your lifestyle and your long-term strategy.
